About

I studied painting and printmaking at Exeter College of Art and for many years taught art in schools and worked in environmental education, conservation and gardening.

After living and working in Wales for many years I moved to Scotland and my work rapidly developed a new vibrancy and sense of place rooted in the local landscape.

I have been very fortunate to find a technique that enhances my interest in the natural world and allows me to celebrate the beauty I find in the most ordinary plants, such as nettles and daisies, while at the same time being able to work with unusual specimens from special gardens and to record plants I have collected on my walks.

I would like to think my work re-energises a forgotten tradition of collecting and preserving native plants and it has allowed me to take a fresh look at the natural world and create new ways of using pressed leaves and flowers.

Everything I do has at its heart my love for the natural world and I hope to draw attention to the complex design of plant forms. I would like to encourage you to look again at your local flora, your gardens and your landscapes. My hope is that this will allow you to experience the details of your environment and to become aware of its vulnerability in these days of climate change and species loss.
